A ghost of Christmas past…

Heiress Sara Johnson is shocked when the stepbrother she believed was dead returns to Colorado to claim his inheritance! It might be the season of goodwill, but Crofton Parks seems determined to destroy his late father’s empire.

Sparks fly as Crofton and Sara are forced to work together, and soon she begins to uncover the secrets behind his disappearance and need for revenge. But a far more unsettling discovery is the desire he awakens in Sara. This roguish rancher might just claim her heart by Christmas!

Author Note,

Ideas for stories come to me in many ways.  I dedicated this book to one of my granddaughters because she was the inspiration for Unwrapping the Rancher’s Secret.  While she was at our house one day, we watched a cute cartoon about a little girl whose mother married a king, turning the little girl from a commoner to a princess overnight.  I found that concept intriguing, and that gave birth to Sara Johnson Parks, a girl who was born in a dirt dugout in Kansas and didn’t own a pair of shoes until she was five, when her mother married a lumber baron.  Upon the death of her stepfather, Sara becomes the richest woman in Royalton, Colorado, but that is also when Crofton Parks appears.  The stepbrother she believed had died as a child.

I hope you enjoy Sara and Crofton’s story!

Heart of a Hero

Big-city art instructor Rachel Hollister isn’t back home in Horseshoe, Texas, for more than a few hours before she’s lost and stranded in the woods surrounding Rebel Ranch. But Rachel’s bad luck takes a sudden turn for the better when a ruggedly handsome cowboy manages to save her life, not just once, but twice, in the same day.

Rancher Egan Rebel can’t resist helping someone in need, even an enemy—or the daughter of one. It was Rachel’s father who unjustly sentenced Egan to prison years ago. As attracted as he is to Rachel and her bright, creative energy, Egan can’t forgive the man who stole his freedom. Can Egan let go of the past, or will he turn his back on the only woman he’s ever loved?

Dear Reader,

I’m excited and a little nervous to start this new series, Texas Rebels, about seven brothers.  I’ve never written a seven-book series and I’m hoping I can keep all the characters straight.

Many times I’ve shared with you how I get ideas for my books.  The idea for this series is unusual.  My husband and I loved Lonesome Dove, we watch Longmire and we never missed an episode of Hatfields & McCoys.  I told my husband I’d like to write something similar to these shows that would be modern-day Western-type stories, but not so gritty.  Then one night I dreamed this series.  Yes, I dreamed it.  When I woke up the next morning, I had these two families in my head, their names and exactly what had happened to keep them feuding over the years.  I quickly went to my office and wrote it all down before they faded from my mind.  That was a gift.  I wasn’t that crazy about the name Falcon, but I kept it because I dreamed it that way.

If you like family drama, this is the series for you.  You’ll enjoy it.  I had a blast creating these stories.

With love and thanks,

Linda Warren

High-stakes marriage..

After he shoots a man, the stakes for gambler Logan Devereaux have never been higher. On trial for his life, he’s offered a shocking alternative form of restitution…marriage to his victim’s pregnant sweetheart!

Beautiful Emma O’Toole has sworn vengeance against him – and when a newspaper man puts her tragic story to song the whole nation waits to see what she’ll do. Their marriage is the riskiest gamble Logan’s ever taken, but he’ll put everything he’s got on the line for a chance at winning Emma’s heart.

Author Note,

This is a ‘Book of My Heart’.  In the years that passed between its beginning and its publication the story never left me, and I never gave up on it.  Seeing it in print at last, and being able to share it with you, is a very personal joy.

Park City, Utah, is an hour’s drive from where I live.  Cradled by the beautiful Wasatch Mountains, its history is as spectacular as its setting.  My own pioneer great-great-grandfather directed the first settlement of the high valley – then known as Parley’s Park.  Its progression from farming community to silver mining boom town, from crumbling backwater to world-class ski resort and home of the Sundance Film Festival, is a true American saga.

The Ballad of Emma O’Toole is set amid the silver boom of the 1980s that brought wealth-seekers from all over the world.  Young Emma O’Toole is determined to make a better life for herself, but her beauty is offset by every possible strike against her.  She’s orphaned, impoverished, and pregnant by a nineteen-year-old boy as poor as she is.  Fate and tragedy intervene to thrust her into the reluctant arms of gambler Logan Devereaux, a cynical man with a dangerous past.  Can such an unlikely pair find happiness together?  I hope you’ll be cheering them on, as I was, all the way to the end of their story.

I offer you this book with a piece of my heart.  Enjoy.

Passionate payback

They say living well is the best revenge. Virgil Bougard has other ideas. Four years ago Kara Goshay believed a vicious lie about him and ended their relationship. And even after her apology, Virgil is still bitter. He intends to get even with Kara when his family’s firm hires her PR company to revamp his playboy image. But faking a liaison with Kara for the media backfires when the line between fantasy and reality is blurred by strong sexual attraction.

Kara wanted forgiveness. Instead she’s deep into a heated affair with the powerful, charismatic man she can’t resist. The man who claims he’ll never forgive her, especially when a secret enemy puts her professional reputation in jeopardy. Stakes are high—but so is their searing desire, a connection so intense it could possibly tame this elusive bachelor at last…

Dear Reader,

I’m so glad to bring another Bachelors in Demand novel to you.  We’ve already seen four bachelors happily married off, and now there are only two remaining.

I guess you can say that I saved the best two for last…

Bachelor Unforgiving’s hero is Virgil Bougard.  There is nothing worse than an affair that goes bad.  Especially when a trust factor is involved, it could make things even worse.  Kara Goshay finds out the hard way that when it comes to making a mistake, some men can be unforgiving…like Virgil.  However, Kara is convinced that love can hide a multitude of faults, and one should be forgiven for their mistakes.  The problem is trying to convince Virgil of that.

I hope all of you enjoy reading Virgil and Kara’s story.

Happy Reading!

The Highlander’s prisoner

There’s more to hardened outlaw Niall Corbett than meets the eye. Despite his merciless reputation, he’s on a mission he must defend with his life. One that means taking beautiful Fia Mackintosh prisoner for her own protection!

Fia may have dreamed of being swept away by a gorgeous Highlander, but never of being held hostage by a gang of outlaws! While her head screams for her to run, her heart beats a little too fast for her captor, a man she shouldn’t, yet can’t help but trust…

Author Note

I am so thrilled to bring you the third book in my A Highland Feuding miniseries – Kidnapped by the Highland Rogue!  I confess, I am finding such inspiration from the true history of these two Scottish families and their centuries-long feud.

If you’ve read the first two books, you’ve met the heroine, Fia Mackintosh.  She was a young girl caught up in the dangerous feud in Stolen by the Highlander, and then we saw her as an insightful girl in The Highlander’s Runaway Bride.  Now Fia is a young woman who thinks that the stories and experiences of Lady Arabella and Lady Eva are sooo romantic.  And she’s dreamed of a handsome Highlander kidnapping her and sweeping her into a torrid love affair that would lead to a happily-ever-after of her own.  But when it happens, it’s not at all how she thought it would be, and yet it’s so much more at the same time.

Using the disguise of Iain Dubh, Niall Corbett cannot help himself when he meets Fia in a dangerous situation – he kidnaps her believing it’s the only way to protect her.  As we romance readers know already, nothing is ever that simple or clear, and this situation goes from bad to worse quickly.  This hero is much, much more than he appears, and there is simply no way that Fia Mackintosh can ever be his.  Or is there a way for Fia to find her coveted happy ending with this enigmatic rogue?

A hint before you read this – my next hero appears in this book.  If you’ve read the first book, you’ve met him, too, but now he’s grown-up and in need of a heroine.  When he entered this book, he acted quite heroically, so I just know he’s ready fro his own story.

Of all the speakeasies, in all the world…

Mysterious city slicker Ty Bradshaw might have won her father’s trust, but everyone knows Norma Rose is the true boss of Nightingale’s resort. And it’ll take more than that charming smile to shake the feeling that Ty is not all he seems…

He walks into hers

Ty is a federal agent on a personal mission of revenge. But he hasn’t figured on falling for a bootlegger’s daughter. Suddenly, flirting with headstrong Norma Rose seems far more exhilarating than chasing gangsters!

Author Note,

Welcome to the Roaring Twenties!  A time in America when almost every citizen broke the law and new freedoms were discovered.

When I started researching the first book in this series I was amazed by how deeply embedded Minnesota was in the illegal moonshine business.  Decades before Prohibition hit, the University of Minnesota had perfected a corn hybrid that flourished in Minnesota’s shorter growing season.  They named this hybrid ‘Minnesota 13’.

Minnesota 13 was also the name given to the whiskey moonshined from this same corn.  A hub of farmers distilling, selling and transporting Minnesota 13 was formed in Central Minnesota, the whiskey became known worldwide, and it was highly sought-after for years.

The Bootlegger’s Daughter is the second book in my Daughters of the Roaring Twenties mini-series.  Norma Rose is the oldest Nightingale sister, and very protective of her siblings and the family business Nightingale’s – a resort that caters to those with money to spend.

Bootlegging Minnesota 13 is part of the family business, and where there are bootleggers there are prohibition men ready to take them down.  Norma Rose recognises Ty Bradshaw as an agent as soon as she sets eyes on him, but when he comes to her rescue she has some hard decisions to make.

I hope you enjoy Norma Rose and Ty’s story, and reading about this time period that brought more freedom and independence for women.

A promise sworn on the edge of a sword…

After a failed assassination attempt on a corrupt general, Bao Yang is a wanted man. Taking refuge with an ally, Yang accidentally compromises the man’s daughter when they’re discovered alone. To save her honor, he must marry the beautiful Jin-mei immediately!

In Yang’s arms, Jin-mei feels alive for the first time. She’s determined not to lose him, even if it means joining his perilous mission… But when she realizes just how destructive Yang’s path could be, can she convince him that their life together could be so much sweeter than revenge?

Author Note,

When I first imagined the world of The Sword Dancer, I envisioned a wild land filled with heroes and bandits with the lines between them completely blurred.

For those who have read The Sword Dancer, I hope you enjoy seeing what happens to Li Feng and Thief-catcher Han.  Like all great romances, the rooftop marriage proposal was a beginning rather than an end, and their adventure continues here.

For history buffs:  the places and people in this book are part real and part imagined.  Fujian province was the seat of several rebellions.  Rogue warlords were a plague upon imperial power in the late part of the dynasty.  And when you read about the rebel figures that emerged throughout Chinese history, many of them made their wealth through the salt trade.

The Linyan Stone Forest is an actual place.  The pictures of it are dramatic and awe-inspiring.  According to travel sites, it wasn’t explored until centuries later during the Qing Dynasty due to the dense growth that obscured it from view.

Perhaps I’ll be able to visit one day, and imagine the colorful bandits who made those hidden caverns their hideout.

Nor will denying the pull his body feels toward hers.

Matthias has buried his heart along with his mate. Desire…love…have no part in his plan. But when Trinity risks her life for his, Matthias must decide how much vengeance means to him.

Dear Reader,

I’m so excited to introduce you to the Shadow Breeds series, and to Matthias and Trinity in particular.  As the first in the series, it was so much fun having my characters show me this new world they inhabit, and it was so easy and tempting to get lost in it.  This book was a fast write for me.  I couldn’t stop.  Think pjs, candy wrappers and messy hair, and you get an idea of my compulsion to write this.  We’re not talking charmingly, eccentrically tousled.  We’re talking kind of gross.  For that, though, I have to thank you.  Yep, you.  It’s your fault.

A little while ago I sat down with a group of readers and we discussed what we really wanted to read.  Shadow Breeds is born from that.  There is a prequel, Tribal Law, that was written for the Australian Romance Readers Association.  I so appreciate that Harlequin Nocturne has given the series a wonderful new home.  So thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to share what you like to read, for debating the merits of traits, experiences, values…and muscles.  You’ve inspired this series, and I love how our conversations together have fired my imagination.  I hope you enjoy reading Lycan Unleashed, and more in the Shadow Breeds series.  Please feel free to email me at or at – I’d love to hear from you!
