Guarding the Witness

When Cassie McBride discovers a dead body in a rental cabin, she quickly becomes the killer’s next target. Now the upbeat, chatty property manager is under the personal protection of police chief Nate Walsh—the living embodiment of the strong, silent type. Nate’s tragic past has taught him that a cop falling for a pretty witness can lead to disaster. Dogged at every turn by the murderer, Nate must stay focused and not let his growing feelings for Cassie interfere with his duty. If there’s any hope for Cassie—or a future for them—it’s going to take all Nate’s skill to not only keep her safe…but to keep her alive.

Dear Reader,

I’m so very excited to present to you the fifth book in my Echo Mountain series, featuring Cassie McBride and Police Chief Nate Walsh.  What a great couple!

Cassie is an optimist with a lighthearted nature who’s paired with Nate, the strong silent type who intimidates people just by looking at them.  Yet somehow, as Nate plays bodyguard for Cassie in the rugged Cascade Mountains, they help each other work through their personal struggles, and Cassie opens Nate’s heart to the concept of “grace.”

The emotionally guarded chief of police even challenges Cassie to speak her truth with love to her family, something she’s been unable to do.  She’d rather escape her hometown and travel indefinitely than tell her mom, brother and sister that their smothering style is driving her away.  But before she can speak her truth, Cassie must elude mob guys who think she has taken something oftheirs.  As Cassie and Nate spend time together, he feels saddened by the thought of losing her once the case is solved and she leaves town.  But if he loves her, he won’t hold her back from her dream of traveling.

The theme of speaking your truth with love is woven throughout the pages of this book because I feel it’s essential for healthy relationships.  I hope you enjoyed Cassie and Nate’s journey as they learned to come together and embrace truth and faith.

There’s nothing like a man in uniform…or out of it!

Especially when he’s as hot as former Ranger Jamie Flanagan. After their last assignment went horribly wrong, he and his buddies needed to get out of the military for good. There was only one catch – that he and his pals promise their commanding officer one favour. Any favour.

Now tall, dark and sexy Jamie is a top security specialist…and the ultimate ladies’ man. So he’s more than a little surprised when he learns the colonel has set him up to protect his grand-daughter. Who would trust a player like Jamie with a gorgeous woman like Audrey? Then he learns his “mission” is to seduce her away from another man…

Dear Reader,

Welcome to my Men Out of Uniform trilogy!  There’s something inherently sexy about the cut of Dress Blues, something casually attractive about a set of BDU’s.  There’s honour and courage and the idea of a greater good in every stitch, and those qualities are found in the men who wear them, as well.  But if there’s anything sexier than a guy in uniform, it’s a guy out of one, and that’s what this series is all about.

Jamie Flanagan, Brian Payne and Guy McCann are heroes to die for.  They’re die-hard bachelors.  They’re bad boys.  They’re Southern gentlemen.  They’re former US Army Rangers.  The only way they could be any better would be if they were dipped in chocolate….and since these are Mills & Boon Blaze stories, that’s always a distinct possibility.  I hope you enjoy The Player, and be sure to check out The Specialist coming in October and The Maverick, which will be on sale in November.  I’ve paired these guys with heroines who are strong enough to tangle with them, but soft enough to smooth out the rough edges.  The result is a series of books that have been fun to write, and rewarding as well.

I love to hear from my readers, so be sure to pop by my website – www.readrhondanelson.com.  I blog frequently about the bizarre happenings that make up everyday life.  Sample headings include “The Day My Dog Ate a Glue Stick” and “How I Felled a Possum with a Can of Fruit Cocktail.” (See?  I told you it was bizarre.)

Happy reading!

Just the right touch…

With her career on the line, Marlie Jenner is determined to make a top-notch documentary about beloved Irish author Aileen Quinn. Which means she needs a top-notch filmmaker; she needs Dex Kennedy. Dex is talented, well respected and Irish. He’s also hotter than hell. And when they meet, he looks as if he wants to eat Marlie right up.

Marlie does look delicious, but after a fatal accident during the shooting of his last documentary, Dex refuses to work on another film. Marlie has some very persuasive techniques, however, and after one seductive, drugging kiss, Dex is hooked—on the film, on Marlie, on the prospect of living again. But every documentary takes on a life of its own. And this one promises an ending that none of them could ever have anticipated…

Dear Reader,

It’s hard to believe I’m finishing up another set of Quinn books.  This series was really fun to write and I spent more than a few hours wondering what I’d do if some distant relative left me a million dollars.  Not too much time, though, since I know I don’t have any wealthy relatives out there.

Though I’ve had a chance to giveaway a lot of Aileen Quinn’s money, I think there might be a little more left in the bank account.  Who knows what Quinns might be found in the future?  The Mighty Quinns:  Dex is my twenty-sixth story about the family.  I think there might be a dew more stories left to be told.  Stay tuned!

For every wild child…

No more watching from the sidelines for Twyla Nightingale: her feet are firmly on the dance floor! She won’t let anyone sour the delicious taste of freedom—especially not Forrest Reynolds, back in town after all this time.

…there’s a guy who thinks she’s the bee’s knees.

Forrest didn’t expect a warm welcome from the Nightingale sisters, not after their lives had been so dramatically upturned. But seeing the challenge in Twyla’s eyes, Forrest takes this rebel for a wild dance she won’t forget!

Author Note,

Welcome to the Roaring Twenties!  A time in America when almost every citizen broke the law and new freedoms were discovered.

The Twenties were a period of change.  Cars became more affordable to all classes of life, motorcycles grew increasingly popular, and flyboys – those who had learned to fly during the war – brought that skill home.  All of this, along with electricity, telephones and Hollywood, created new lifestyles and attitudes.

Welcome to the third book in my Daughters of the Roaring Twenties mini-series!  The Rebel Daughter is Twyla’s story.  She embraces all changes to society wholeheartedly; however, being the daughter of a well-known bootlegger restricts her freedom.

A rebel at heart, Twyla has grown tired of living in the state’s largest speakeasy and not being allowed to attend the lavish parties.  When the opportunity to step out of the shadows arrives she takes it – but discovers going up against mobsters might be more than she can handle.

Good thing Forrest Reynolds has returned home.  Twyla needs someone to catch her when she falls.

I hope you enjoy Twyla and Forrest.  They are two of a kind.

Happy reading!

Can she save the ranch–and keep his love?

Jenna Wood had her new start all planned out when she bought an ostrich ranch in New Mexico. But from day one, nothing is quite what she expected–especially her tenant, Flynn Sutton. Jenna’s daughter, Andee, adores Flynn and his sheepdog, Beezer, but Jenna’s not so sure. She feels a connection, but Flynn’s a pilot, just like her late husband, and his work brings up painful memories. Still, when someone in town seems to have a grudge against Jenna, Flynn is there to protect her and Andee. Together, they’ll find out who’s trying to intimidate Jenna, and why. And along the way, the three of them just might become a family…

Dear Reader,

Parts of this story have percolated in my mind for quite a while.  There’s an ostrich ranch off the highway between Tucson and Phoenix.  A few years ago the ranch was in the news.  Hot air balloons taking off from an empty field frightened the birds, and many were hurt when they broke down fences.  I wanted to feature an ostrich ranch in a story, but I didn’t want them hurt.  I decided to set my story in a neighboring state.  I wanted my main characters to love animals.  And because An Unlikely Rancher is a love story, I decided my ranch owner, who isn’t looking for love, falls in love accidentally.  I hope Jenna Woods and her daughter Andee’s second chance at happiness with ex-military flyer Flynn Sutton is a story that touches your heart.

A family’s bad reputation is tough to shake off. Just ask Savannah O’Neill. Despite her straitlaced job as a librarian, despite her living a private life, the O’Neill family wildness still sparks town gossip. And the arrival of Matt Woods–sexy handyman and complete stranger–isn’t helping.

Watching him work makes Savannah long to take a trip into indulgence. That’s so not a good idea–she’s been there before and still hears the rumors. But Matt is much too delicious for this O’Neill to resist. It’s a shame there’s more to Matt than being good with his hands. Because when his true reasons for seeking her out are revealed, he could become another affair Savannah lives to regret.

Dear Reader,

I have wished, more times than I can count, that I was Southern.  Not just so I could have an heirloom pecan pie recipe, though that would be fantastic.  And not just so I could say “bless your heart” and have it mean the many nice and not so nice things it seems to mean when Southern women say it.  But so I could walk around in a slip like Elizabeth Taylor in Cat on a Hot Tin Rood and not catch pneumonia.

But I am not Southern.  I am from the Midwest and I moved to Canada.  But my Deep South fantasies are now being played out on the page in this very fun new series – The Notorious O’Neills – about a Louisiana family plagued by family secrets, stolen gems and broken hearts.

I am often asked what inspires me about a certain idea, and I usually say something lame, such as love is always inspiring.  But here is the truth:  I love the heroes.  I love torturing them, redeeming them; I love taking their shirts off.  Heroes are why I adore romance novels.  As I started Savannah’s book, I swore this book was going to be about her.  And how could it not?  A betrayed woman, locked up in a prison of her own making, she was a heroine I could sink my teeth into.  But then onto the page walked Matt Woods.  And I was totally intrigued by the question, what makes a good guy go bad?

I hope you enjoy the first book in this series.  Please drop me a line at www.molly-okeefe.com.  I love to heart from readers!

Happy reading,

Molly O’Keefe
